Education movement inspires the fight for democracy: Khandaker Lutfar Rahman

Bir Muktijoddha Khandaker Lutfar Rahman, the top leader of the 20-party alliance and the president of Jagpa, said that independent Bangladesh has followed the path of the education movement of ’72. The education movement inspires the establishment in the fight for rights and democracy. In the context of the Bengali independence movement, this education movement is undoubtedly a turning point in history.
He said this after paying homage to the martyrs of the 1972 education movement on behalf of the Jatiya Ganatantrik Party-Jagpa at the High Court corner on the occasion of Education Day on Friday (September 18).
Young Jagpa convener Mir Amir Hossain Amu and other party leaders were present at the time.
He said the independence of Bangladesh has given constitutional recognition to the right of all to education, but the commercialization of education could not be stopped as the market has come to play the role of regulator in free competition. Just as the movement of ’72 paved the way for the liberation of the oppressed people of this country from the exploitation of Pakistani rule, a united education movement like ’72 can lead Bangladesh in a new direction.
