Press conference to rid North South University of rampant corruption

An organization called the Law and Human Rights Protection Foundation has demanded that North South University, one of the country’s top private educational institutions, be protected from corruption and militancy. At the same time, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s intervention has been sought to protect the university.

The organization’s adviser said at a press conference at the Dhaka Reporters’ Unity in the capital’s Segunbagicha on Saturday. Sufi Sea Sams.

In a written statement, he said the lives of 25,000 students of the university have been taken hostage by the syndicate of the board of trustees of the university. In the midst of so many irregularities, the quality of education of the institution is also gradually declining.
Nafis Imtiaz, convicted in the murder of blogger Rajeev, has been re-admitted after 10 years, claiming that North South is still patronizing militants. Through this, the Law and Human Rights Protection Foundation believes that the university is practically encouraging militancy.

At a press conference at Dhaka Reporters ‘Unity on October 16, it was demanded that top people of North South University buy cheap land at high prices, commission in exchange for a contract with a developer company, illegally buy luxury cars for 9 members of the board of trustees from students’ tuition fees. Allegations of various irregularities and militancy have been heaped on various government departments, including seating allowances, receiving the same amount of allowances through online meetings, violating the rules, FDR of Tk 408 crore in the university fund and disobeying the instructions of the Grants Commission.

“In particular, the entire university administration has been held hostage by two trustees and founding members of the university, Azim Uddin Ahmed and the MA Qasim Syndicate.”

In addition to these two, the founding members of the university, Benazir Ahmed, Rehena Rahman, Mohammad Shahjahan and Aziz Al Qaiser Tito, are also involved in the syndicate, claimed Sufi Sagar Sams.

He claimed that Azim-Kashem violated the Private University Act-2010 by forming 25 committees against eight committees and collecting additional seating allowance. Through these committees, they have kept all the powers of the university administration in their hands. Even Azim or Kashem became a member of all the legal and illegal committees of the university outside the rules.
At the press conference, the human rights activist demanded exemplary punishment for the Azim-Qasim syndicate, seeking the intervention of the Prime Minister to save North South University.

North-South University is one of the top private educational institutions in the country plagued by syndicates and militancy. The lives of 25,000 students of the university have been taken hostage by the syndicate of the board of trustees of the university. In the midst of so many irregularities, the quality of education of the institution is also declining. They have repeatedly denied old allegations of militant involvement against the North South. But the North South has not yet emerged from the shell of militant patronage. The biggest proof of this is that Nafis Imtiaz, who was convicted in the murder of Bogar Rajiv, is being given the opportunity to study at the university again. Blogger and writer Rajiv Haider was hacked to death by militants in 2013. Nafis Imtiaz, a militant convicted in that case, is being re-admitted after 10 years with the help of the university. Through such heinous acts, this university is practically encouraging militancy. The land of the top people of the university is of low value Purchases at exorbitant prices, commissions from developers, illegal purchase of luxury cars for 9 members of the Board of Trustees illegally from student tuition fees, seating allowance of one lakh rupees, receiving the same allowance even after meeting online, Complaints have been lodged in various government departments regarding various irregularities and militant support at North South University, including the admission of several students disobeying the directives of the commission. In particular, the entire university administration seems to have been held hostage by the two trustees and founding members of the universities, Azim Uddin Ahmed and MA Qasim Syndicate.
