The youth wants to formulate a law, not a search committee, to form an election commission

Today, 22nd October, 2021 at 3 pm 22/1, in the 2nd floor conference room of Bangladesh Shishu Kalyan Parishad at Topkhana Road. ? Roundtable discussions on the topic were held.

At the discussion meeting, the youth representatives of various parties including the representatives of the youth force demanded the formation of the Election Commission by enacting the law that is mentioned in the constitution for the formation of the Election Commission.

At the meeting, Saiful Haque, general secretary of the Revolutionary Workers Party, said, “We have to create mass awakening to establish the right to vote. Mass Movement: If the government cannot be defeated politically in the way of mass resistance, then nothing can be done for the right to vote, democratic rights and free elections. There is no scope for admissible and impartial elections on ad hoc basis. The experience of the 2014 and 2016 elections has proved that there is no room for competitive elections with a government-loyal election commission. ”

He called for the formation of the next election commission by discussing with the political parties and enacting laws if necessary.

Hanif Bangladeshi, chief coordinator of Yubshakti, said, “53 prominent people of the country have demanded the formation of a strong neutral election commission through the enactment of laws. We also want no law to be formed for the last 50 years. Now the President will form the Election Commission in consultation with all quarters. This is the expectation of the people. ”

“Building an effective democracy requires a strong neutral election commission and an opportunity for the administration to play a neutral role,” he said. If the administration is partisan, it is not possible for the commission to hold fair elections. The commission must be formed by enacting laws declared in the constitution. ”

Ziaur Rahman spoke more at the meeting chaired by Dr. Abdur Razzak, Alam Chowdhury, Mir Mozammel Hossain Milon, Nayan Ahmed, Asaduzzaman Masud, Secretary of the Youth Union, Ismail Samrat, Secretary of the Youth People’s Forum, Faruk Hasan, Sourav, NU Ahmed, Md. Shihab Uddin, NU Ahmed and others.
